River City Root Festival / August 28 - 29, 2010

River City Root Festival

Missoula, Montana

. It’s Missoula, Montana’s signature celebration of the Arts. This past August 28 – 29, 2010 was the annul River City root Festival

This is a two day festival with a juried Art Show, A Four Mile Run / Walk, Family Events and two stages of Music. The stage at Caras Park, Down on the Clark Fork River, had local bands. Quite a few were high school kids, which was quite interesting all in its self. Some of them were quite talented, though. In other areas along the river trail in the park were, Montana Public Radio Story Telling, instrument creating, and folks just plain having fun.

On the main stage uptown where several thousand people had gathered to listen to bands such as; Mike Bader Band, Milk Drive, The Infamous String Dusters, Robert Earl Keen, our Favorite Amanda Shaw and The Cute Boys. This young lady could just flat tear it up. They had the folks in Missoula Dancing in the streets. With songs from her new album Southern Girl. She even left the crowd cheering with classics from Charlie Daniels and Janis Joplin. On the Fiddle she is one of the best I have seen in a long time, and a voice that had the trees tapping their roots.

Watch for Next years Festival, its well worth the trip.
